Leveling is a field tool for differential leveling. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising. Your survey work stays on your phone. Nothing is sent to the developer — not your readings, not your photographs, not your locations.
Everything you enter is written to the app's own storage on your device:
This data is not uploaded anywhere. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Exporting a job file first is the only way to keep it.
Three things, and only these. Each happens because of something you do in the app.
| When | Goes to | What it contains |
|---|---|---|
| You open the map to place a point | Esri map tile serviceserver.arcgisonline.com |
The tile numbers of the area shown on screen — that is, roughly where you are looking on the map. No names, no readings, no identifiers. |
| You press Download maps for a job | OpenStreetMap Overpass APIoverpass-api.de, overpass.kumi.systems,
overpass.private.coffee |
A rectangle of latitude and longitude covering the job's points, so streets and buildings can be drawn on the report. No names, no readings. |
| You press Share or Export | Whatever app you choose — mail, messenger, file manager | The PDF or job file you asked for. You pick the recipient; the app never sends anything on its own. |
Camera — to photograph a survey point so it can be found again. Photos — to attach a picture you already have. Both are used only when you tap the corresponding button, and the photograph is stored on the device with the job.
Location — only if you allow it, when you tap the locate button on a map. The app then shows where your phone is on the map (a blue dot) so you can find the point you are standing at. The location is used only on the phone while the map is open; it is not saved, not added to your jobs or reports, and not sent to the developer or anyone else. The app does not use location in the background. Coordinates of survey points still come only from where you place the pin on the map.
Leveling is a professional surveying tool. It is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
If the app ever starts handling data differently, this page is updated before that version is released, and the effective date above changes with it.
